A refined home renovation in Dubai Hills Sidra by D’Ora Tokai Designs

 

Set within the Sidra community of Dubai Hills, The Edge of Calm is a full-home renovation that translates minimalist principles into a richly layered, emotionally attuned space. Designed for a returning client, this villa marks the third collaboration between homeowner and studio—an ongoing partnership rooted in shared vision and trust.

 

This renovation was conceived not just as an upgrade, but as an invitation to live with greater ease. The layout was extensively restructured to support contemporary family life: a former courtyard was enclosed to create the kitchen; the dining area was extended for connection and flow; and upstairs, each child’s room received a dedicated en-suite, while the master suite was reconfigured to include dual walk-in wardrobes and a serene double-shower bathroom.

 

A carefully balanced material palette brings depth to the simplicity: warm oak floors provide grounding, while Arabescato marble, stainless steel cabinetry, and silver oak joinery introduce quiet contrast and sculptural precision. Purposefully placed moments—a black-finished laundry, an eggplant-hued bedroom suite, and a custom 8-metre rug—add rhythm and character without disturbing the home’s serenity.
